Just recently, Dave Bautista shared a big announcement to his fans on his Instagram. The former wrestler and actor best known for his role as Drax in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie officially adopted Penny, a three-year-old rescue pit bull, to join his fur family. She is the third member following Ollie and Maggie who have long been with Bautista.
The heartwarming story of Penny’s adoption into the Bautista family started when the Humane Society of Tampa Bay shared the plight of a pup who was found on the streets with a metal chain embedded into her neck. The chain left deep bruises on the pup’s neck and luckily she was saved after someone saw her and brought her into the shelter. Her story quickly became viral and soon enough reached Dave Bautista.
When Bautista first heard about her, he immediately pledged a $5,000 reward to anyone who would be actually able to provide information about the person responsible for the pup’s injuries. When the actor was asked why he was deeply invested, he shared that puppies are the purest and most innocent beings, and anyone who abuses pups is the lowest form of a human being.
After that, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay joined Bautista’s efforts and added $1,000 to the reward money. Then, another $5,000 was added by Alvarez Injury Law but no one yet has stepped forward to claim the reward.
While waiting for information about the pup’s story, Bautista went ahead and made a solid step in ensuring that the pup would no longer suffer any abuse or neglect. He officially adopted her into his family and as of now, she is slowly and nicely healing up not only from the physical wounds but also from the trauma of being neglected. Penny now has a forever home and family who can’t wait to be with her as she lives her best pup life.
