Tyfanee Fortuna of New Jersey shared a brutally honest bio of her foster Chihuahua named Prancer on Facebook a few weeks ago. She likened him to a haunted Victorian child disguised as a tiny dog who despises children, men, and other animals.
After the post got over 60,000 shares, many expressed their intent to adopt Prancer. This includes Ariel Davis from New Haven, Connecticut. Davis said she believed she would be a suitable match for the man-and-animal-hating pup. She is a single lesbian who has no other pets. Her work schedule would easily allow her to care for a dog. She also has experience with troubled dogs in the past.
Prancer was a little wary and untrusting during their meet-and-greet. Davis said that food aided in his acceptance of her presence. After the adoption was finalized, Davis noticed the dog gradually emerge out of his shell.
Davis said that although Prancer is a little demon, he is definitely the good kind. He is loving, playful, and interactive. She also said that he is devoted and spoiled — as all dogs should be. They may not have had the best start, but they are more than making up for it. Davis noted that people and dogs sometimes just need to be in the right environment for their real personalities to shine through.
Davis also gave some advice to those considering rescuing a troubled dog. She said they should first examine their motives and if they are doing it for the right reasons. They should also conduct thorough research on behavioral concerns and be willing to devote their full attention to the dog.
Davis went on to express her gratitude to Fortuna for helping Prancer find the perfect permanent home. The pup is a great fit for her home, and she loves him with all her heart.
