Speed is an important factor when rescuing dogs. This is a big deal when the dogs are trapped under snow in unforgiving weather.
The following story shows close calls between a rescuer and puppies at risk of freezing to death.
An animal rescuer in Bulgaria received a report about nine puppies stranded in the middle of a snowy area. The location was near a highway, so there was a good chance that someone left them there. Regardless of how they got there, the rescuer had a job to do, and he immediately drove to the reported location.
Initially, the ones who found the puppies were two people living in a nearby apartment. However, these people couldn’t bring them to their homes because dogs were not allowed there. They decided to call the rescuer, which was the best decision they could have made.
The first responders assisted the rescuer, making the process easier. Since the puppies already became familiar with the first two responders, they didn’t resist being carried. The puppies were then transported to an animal shelter where they could roam free and play with other dogs.
The rescuer who saved the puppies owns the animal shelter where he took the puppies. It’s his life mission to provide the puppies a place to stay while they wait for an adopter. Throughout the process, the rescuer had fun watching the puppies grow and learn to play.
After some time, three of the nine puppies were already scheduled for adoption. Two of them headed to France, and one went to Austria. Meanwhile, the rest of the puppies went to Germany.
If the puppies had been left in the snow for two more days, they probably wouldn’t have survived. The rescuer and first responders’ combined effort made it possible for the puppies to experience a happy life. This is a big deal in a place where the dumping of dogs is an unfortunately common practice.
