The term “stray” is often associated with scraggly, unsightly, and dirty-looking dogs. People don’t expect to see a beautiful dog looting trashcans and wandering around. When something like that is seen, expect a story about it to appear on the internet.
The residents at a place called Hoengseong campground were concerned about the noises they heard at night. During the day, they found trash bins turned over, and their contents spilled. When they looked at street camera footage, they were shocked by what they saw.
The residents were right about their hunch, to an extent. They confirmed through the footage that a stray dog was indeed scavenging the trash during the evening. However, the residents did not expect the dog to be an elegant Shetland sheepdog.
Many questions ran through the residents’ minds. How could such a dog be a stray? Was it a lost dog that someone was actually looking for? In order to answer these questions, an animal behaviorist went into the campgrounds to investigate.
The expert explored the nearby hills surrounding the campground. Unfortunately, the investigation was inconclusive, and the dog could not be found at that time. Instead, the expert proceeded to prepare for a rescue operation during the evening.
A large enclosure trap was placed in the middle of the campground. Trash bins were placed in the enclosure to lure the dog inside. When evening came, the stray dog was successfully captured inside it and rescued. It was then sent to a veterinarian for a medical checkup.
There was no microchip embedded on the dog, indicating that it might not have an owner after all. People did not find out how such a fancy dog got into this situation, but that no longer mattered. After the visit to the vet, the expert brought it to his dog shelter, where it got the chance to enjoy the company of other dogs.
