Although people today prefer to adopt rescue dogs from animal shelters, there are still countless dogs that are left behind. Most dogs that get left behind are dogs with special needs. People tend to stay away from dogs with disabilities since they may require special care that can be expensive.
Because of this, countless special needs dogs are euthanized to free up space in animal shelters. Thankfully, many animal rescuers and organizations work hard to give these dogs a second chance. Mr. Bones & Co. is a great example of this type of animal rescue organization.
When a dog named Hazel was rescued, she was already blind. There was little chance that people would want to adopt her and she was at risk of getting euthanized. Thankfully, she was pulled from the animal shelter and into the care of a foster family. Her first foster family taught Hazel that she can trust humans and they also trained her to recognize sound signals.
Hazel is a sweet dog who has the potential to become a great pet. However, her special needs are preventing her from getting adopted. Thankfully, she was scheduled for surgery, which could potentially restore her sight.
Soon after Hazel went to her second foster home, she had her eye surgery. When Hazel walked out of the operating room, she was already a completely different dog. Although her sight wasn’t fully healed yet, she was so happy that she could finally make out shapes and see movement.
Hazel’s tail was wagging nonstop and was so excited to be able to see again. Hazel was already a sweet and playful dog. When her vision was restored, she became even more playful and affectionate. Soon after Hazel completely recovered from her surgery, she was finally adopted by an amazing family. Here’s a video featuring Hazel’s remarkable transformation thanks to the wonderful people who helped give her a chance to have the life that she deserved.
