Mowgly is a yellow labrador retriever that went camping with his family in Boulder County, Colorado. The lovable dog must have been very excited about exploring the outdoors and soon found himself far away from their camp. Sadly, he couldn’t find his way back.
Along with their friends, the dog’s owners started scouring the large area to find Mowgly. They had no idea where the pooch went, and there was so much land to cover. It took them three days before someone finally spotted the pup.
Trapped
Mowgly was trapped on a ledge on the side of a steep cliff. To make matters worse, there was a rushing creek with a strong current 20 feet below him. The dog must have somehow fallen on the stream, and he managed to get up the ledge. It was the only dry spot where he could go, and he probably stayed there for the entire time he was missing.
The dog’s owners quickly called for help. Soon, three rescue teams from different departments arrived. The rescuers assessed the situation and came up with an ingenious plan to get the dog to safety. It required cooperation from all three teams.
The rescue
Several rescuers bravely crossed to the other side when the creek’s water calmed down. They had ropes with them. They climbed the cliff to where Mowgly was and set up a rope and harness system. They will use this to transport the dog over the creek.
Once they were safely on land, they brought the dog to his family. They were so relieved to have him back. Most importantly, he was unharmed.
The rescuers said that Mowgly remained very calm all throughout the rescue process. He must have realized that the humans were there to rescue him. They also added that the dog was lucky that his owners loved him so much and never lost hope in finding him.
