Drew Lynch, an American stand-up comedian, became famous after joining the 10th season of the TV show America’s Got Talent. With over 4 million followers on YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook combined, he’s surely doing a great job of bringing fun to people. But no matter how funny his jokes may be, Estella doesn’t seem to get impressed.
When he was 20 years old, Drew got into an accident. He was playing football when a grounder hit him in the throat, and he accidentally hit his head. Drew suffered a concussion. When he woke up, everything was foggy, and he started to stutter.
Because of the stutter, no one hired Drew to be an actor. He suffered from anxiety-induced panic attacks, and they were pretty severe. So to try and calm himself, Drew lies down on the floor and says, “Comfort.” That’s when Estella, his therapy dog, would come and lay on his chest.
Estella is a pretty smart dog. She obeys the commands ‘sit’ and ‘stay,’ she can turn on the lights, and she can hold the door open. She also carries groceries for her dad and wipes her feet when she’s coming inside their house.
Estella also knows how to spin. She rolls over when commanded to. And she plays dead when her dad acts to shoot her.
But no matter how talented Estella is and how funny her dad can be, Drew describes his dog as completely stoic. She always has a straight face, staring at her dad with no emotions at all. Most of the time, she’d just lie on her bed looking at him.
Estella isn’t a big cuddler like other dogs. But there’s no doubt that she loves her dad so much. She always makes sure that he is doing fine and immediately gets into action whenever he needs her.
“She is a lifesaver,” said Drew. “She forced me back out into the world.”
