Ask a dog owner about air travel for dogs, and you’d get varying answers. A good number of dog parents would swear that unless the dog can stay in the cabin, they would never let their babies in a plane. The cargo area can be rough for pets, but with the recent advancements in the airline industry, it has become a whole lot safer.
One dog mom had the same cautious worries. Ashley Cervantes had no choice but to put her baby girl in a dog crate and bring the boxer with her. You see, Ashley’s husband is in the military, and they had to relocate to Hawaii from Texas. There was no way that Ashley was leaving her Maya behind.
Bringing Maya
Ashley tried to see if Maya can join them in the cabin, but the dog was too big. They had to place her in cargo. They did just that but with a lot of concern and anxiety. Ashley was beside herself; she can’t stop worrying about Maya. Hoping that someone would take care of her baby, or at least look after her, Ashley taped a note on her crate.
The not described the adorable pup’s friendly nature. It also said to send Ashley a text to let her know if the dog was doing okay. She taped the note to put her mind at ease. She wasn’t expecting someone to text her. But someone did.
In a layover in Denver, Ashley received a text. It was from an employee of the airline. The message said that Maya was okay. It also said that Maya was taken out of the crate to stretch her legs, and was given water. The employee even sent a picture of Maya and him together. Maya couldn’t help but shed some happy tears. Her fears where somewhat alleviated. She was so grateful to the airline employee for what he did. Ashley has sent word and urged the airline to commend that employee.
Maya got to Hawaii safely, and now they leave happily by the beach. Maya loves the sand between her paws and regularly goes to the shore with her mom. She even has her special happy sand dance! See it in the video below.
