Samuel Clarence started to like dogs when he volunteered as a dog walker for an animal shelter. At first, he did this just for fun. Little did he know that because of this abrupt decision, he would build a good rapport with dogs.
As he volunteered for the Christchurch Bull Breed Rescue in New Zealand, Clarence’s main task is to look after two puppies. These two puppies were abandoned at a private property along with their mom. When he started volunteering, the two dogs were six months old.
Aside from looking after the two dogs, Clarence also promised to the animal shelter that he would help in looking for potential adopters for the two dogs. He need not look further, though, as he would be the permanent parent of one of the two dogs.
He first agreed to foster Stanley until the dog finds a forever home. But as days passed by, he became all the more attached to the pooch. With this, he decided to take the dog under his custody for good.
In an interview, Clarence said that it was not difficult to like Stanley. Although it was unlikely that the pooch was abandoned, it does not mean that the dog is not capable of showing love. Clarence proved that the pooch is lovable through the dog’s love language – physical touch.
Just like any other dog, Stanley is clingy. The dog loves to be pet and hugged. In one of the dog’s trips with Clarence, a heartwarming photo of the dog holding his human’s hand took the internet by storm.
In the photo, the dog refused to let go of Clarence’s hand as the owner was driving. It could be simple for anyone, but for Clarence, it is something special. For Clarence, it is the dog’s way of saying thanks to him for giving him a loving home.
