Meghan Savage, 29, and her husband, Mark Savage, 29, spent ten days searching for their Pomeranian after she went missing from Cumnock after getting startled while out on a walk. The heartbroken couple slept in their car and camped in fields near where they’d last seen Aurora in a desperate attempt to find her. However, ten days later, they still hadn’t found their missing dog.
Meghan cried every day, describing the ten days as the worst days of her life. The couple was miserable, but they refused to give up looking for her. After a while, Drone SAR For Lost Dogs UK stepped in and offered to set up a cage and cameras to help find the two-year-old dog.
They used a drone to scan the area on Saturday before setting up the trap with fish as bait. Around 1 p.m. on Sunday, they discovered Aurora, safe and sound, within the trap. The pair rushed over to see the puppy after hearing the news.
From the crowd, the dog recognized them and began bouncing up and down in the cage. The couple had no words to describe their joy at finally seeing their dog after such a long time. They rushed the dog to the local hospital, where the veterinarian informed them that the dog was OK, aside from dehydration and wounded paw.
Meghan and Mark suspect that the dog might’ve stolen cat food from a nearby farm to get by. They confess that for some time, they assumed Aurora was no longer alive, and the thought terrified them. After the incident, the couple now calls the dog Aurora The Explorer, named after a popular children’s heroine, Dora.
They had no idea what the dog had gone through. Nonetheless, things appeared to be back to normal now that the dog could run around and eat scrambled eggs like she used to.
