An Amazon driver’s wrong turn led him to rescue a dog about to meet its end from drowning.
Coincidence? I think not!
John Cassabria is working as an Amazon delivery driver in Woburn, Massachusetts when he unknowingly turns at the wrong street. He then pulls his delivery van over to take a closer look at his GPS.
While John was doing a maintenance check on his navigation system, suddenly, a mysterious noise caught his attention. John walked out of his van to take a closer look at where the noise was coming from.
When he peeked over the fence, he then saw a husky drowning in a backyard pool. Knowing what he must do, John proceeded to spring into action and do whatever he can to save the drowning dog. He then scaled the fence and leaped into the water to save the dog. The dog’s head was barely reaching the surface of the water, but thankfully, John was there to rescue to husky from descending into the water any further.
Without hesitation, John jumped into the pool. He didn’t have time to remove his wallet, phone, and watch, all he was thinking was to save the dog at that moment.
Soon after pulling the dog to safety, John proceeded to call the Woburn Police Department.
The dog, named Luka, was in safe hands at the moment. He was being secured by John until his pet-sitter arrived. His family left for a weekend vacation, and his pet-sitter had not arrived yet to take care of him.
Apparently, he went out through the doggy door, which he has used for 14 years of his own life without incident, and ventured into the pool. Not only that, but the 14-year-old dog’s legs were very frail and were not fit for swimming, which was why he wasn’t able to swim out of the pool with ease. Luka was lucky that John took that wrong turn, or else he would’ve met his demise, his owner Julie Caldwell, would say.
John said that if there will be a chance for him to do the same thing, he would and would never hesitate to save a drowning dog.
As soon as Luka’s pet sitter came to pick him up, John then said goodbye to the dog and continued through his delivery route.
Thank you, John, for being alert and for saving Luka’s life!
