Most paw-rents are in a dilemma on how to prepare their pets for the arrival of a new family member. So When Michael and Emma McGowan learned that they’re about to have a baby, they built their beloved dog, Molly, a room of her own to make her feel loved and special.
A special room for Molly
The McGowan family is composed of Emma and Michael, along with their fur-baby, Molly. As the only child, Molly enjoys her parents’ full attention.
But things are about to change. The couple found out that they were having a baby, and they can’t be more excited. Their family is growing. But Emma and Michael were confronted with one crucial issue: how would Molly deal with it?
The couple loves Molly to bits, and they didn’t want their dog to feel snubbed or less loved once the baby arrives.
So, Emma and Michael came up with the perfect idea: get Molly her own room. Michael found the perfect spot for Molly’s room under the stairs, and he quickly went to work.
First, he made sure Molly would have enough space for a cozy bedroom. Fortunately, there’s a good four-square meter of unused space under the stairs. Michael even hired a builder to get the door frame and wirings correctly. Next, Michael did the plastering, put up the wallpaper, flooring, and installed some mood lighting.
The coziest room, ever!
Since Emma and Michael wanted Molly to be as comfortable as possible in her new room, they got her a couch and a soft bed. They even hang photos of Molly and her doggie friends on the wall.
To finish the look, Molly had a special doormat by the entrance, which said: “One Spoiled Dog Lives Here.” Outside hangs a customized “Molly’s Room” sign plus her adorable photo. There’s also an M-shaped hook for her harness, and food and water bowl below it.
Molly’s room is perfect and made with love and she’s happy to have her own space to relax and chill in. It mirrors her parents’ love for her.
So when the baby arrived, Molly was just as happy to welcome her newborn sister. She also knows she should be gentle around her sister, so she contents herself with sniffing the baby’s toes.
Building a room for Molly certainly helped with the transition from being the only child to becoming the big sister. It only proves that Molly is, and will always be, an important part of the family.
