Ginger is a foster dog that lives with Hayley Miller in Texas. One day, the Pit Bull got loose and wandered into the neighbor’s yard. Unfortunately, the resident there decided to shoot the dog in the face.
The shot went through the head, and the dog was losing a lot of blood. Ginger would have died that day, if not for the kindness and quick thinking of Deputy Brian Bowling of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s department.
Entry and exit wounds
Deputy Bowling, a former military flight medic that has served in Afghanistan, was on his way to respond to a call when he saw the injured dog on the street. He stopped his patrol car, and the dog went stumbling towards his side.
The kind officer quickly realized that the dog was shot and has lost a lot of blood. His experience as a medic helped him save the dog’s life. He quickly took out some gauze and covered the entry and exit wounds. He then rushed Ginger to a vet.
The dog’s foster mom was informed of the incident, and she rushed to the clinic immediately. The vets have controlled the bleeding, and they informed Hayley that the dog would need emergency surgery. And it was going to cost almost three thousand dollars.
Hayley didn’t have the money to cover the costs. She was about to tell them that they should just put the dog to sleep. But Deputy Bowling stepped up again. He took out his credit card and told the clinic staff to charge him the expenses.
Survivor
Ginger got the emergency surgery, and she survived. But she still had a long way to fully recover. Hayley took the dog back home where she will continue her treatment.
Deputy Bowling’s heroic act had gone viral, and he was touted for his unselfishness. People were amazed by his kindness. He said that he saw that the dog was a survivor, and it was a shame that she would die because there was no money for her operation.
