Annabelle and Jacques, two Terriers, are siblings and best friends. A freezing rescue in January 2016 proved how strong their friendship is.
The two canines left their Orange, Massachusetts home after some hospital staff took their mother for a medical emergency.
Annabelle gets entangled in the nearby woods by a fallen tree. Jacques realized he had to do something to assist his best friend. So the little terrier dashed up a barrier, barking at passing police named Christopher Bisceglia, who was out looking for the dogs when Jacques came upon him.
Bisceglia witnessed Jacques’ distress and soon realized what the little dog was trying to convey by its non-stop barking. It turns out that Annabelle had been stuck 30 feet down the ice, but with Jacques’ help, rescuers were able to locate and free her.
Temperatures in Massachusetts in January can be dangerously low, especially at night. Annabelle might have been in far worse shape if she had been stuck for much longer. According to experts, prolonged exposure to a freezing temperature could be harmful to dogs.
Without a doubt, Jacques’s heroic act saved his best friend. Following Annabelle’s rescue, both dogs were examined out by a veterinarian. The dogs later came home and were reunited with their mother, according to police.
Annabelle’s rescue was a partnership involving the police, fire department, and animal control, in addition to Jacques’ help. Locals and animal lovers from all around the country flocked to social media to express their gratitude to these heroes.
Officer Bisceglia’s outstanding work was praised by Sydney Acres on Facebook, both for going back to look for the dogs and realizing that the first dog was attempting to tell him something rather than just running away. The pets and their owner are fortunate that the Officer took the time to go above and beyond.
