Star to the rescue!
On April 5, a 30-year-old mother of one was attacked by strangers while she was enjoying a late-night walk along Southend-on-Sea on the coastal town of Essex, England. Thankfully, her trusty four-legged pit bull mix companion was right there to protect her.
Amy Edmondson, the victim, shared with the local newspaper The Basildon Canvey Southend Echo what happened that night. According to her, a man and woman approached her to ask for directions. As she conversed with the woman, the man jumped on her and pushed her to the ground as he held a knife to her throat. The motive was robbery, and her attackers repeatedly told her to give them her money.
Edmondson noted that she feared for her life during the attack. All she thought about was her nine-year-old son and what might happen to him. She feared that he would grow up without a mother and that her dog, Star, would be left to fend for himself.
Thankfully, her four-legged companion had no intention of letting it get that far.
Edmondson released Star from her leash during the attempted robbery, and the brave canine sprung into action–quickly biting her owner’s attackers and refusing to let them go. She managed to escape by telling them that she would call Star off the moment they released her as well.
In an interview with The Mirror, Edmondson highlighted that Star saved her life. According to her, her dog’s heroic act was actually out of character because she was usually a loving dog who would lick anyone to death.
And just how did the fur-mom reward her darling pooch? Well, through treating her with her favorite things, of course! As soon as they got home, Star got an extra big dinner and was showered with many cuddles that night!
We’d gladly do the same if it happened to us, too! We’re happy they’re both safe!
