Todd Baldwin went on a walk one morning when something unexpected happened. On his way back home, a brown Pitbull mix started to follow him. She seemed friendly so he didn’t mind.
He thought she just happened to walk the same direction he did but once he made it back home, Todd realized the pup was still behind him. She didn’t bark or anything but she wanted something.
Todd checked to see if the pup had any tags but she didn’t. She also didn’t wear a collar. He also noticed she walked with a limp because she had a hurt leg.
The huge pooch was so gentle and sweet. She let him pet her. She was the sweetest and he fell right in love with her. Even Todd’s wife was smitten and they didn’t underestimate the possibility that they could be dog parents any time soon.
Todd was very much willing to adopt the dog but he knew she belonged with someone and that someone was most probably missing her. She’s well-trained and she was clean. Perhaps, she got out of their home and missed her way back.
It would have been easy for Todd to just bring the dog home but he knew better. He posted about her on social media and people started to share the post. As he waited, he kept her company and gave her food.
Later that day, he took her to the vet for a microchip scan and medical care. The vet revealed the dog didn’t have a microchip so he continued to post about her on several lost dog pages on Facebook. He really wanted to keep her, but he didn’t.
Before the day ended, Todd found the dog’s mom. He learned her name was Kaia and he drove her back to her mom. He was sad that he couldn’t keep her but he was also happy to reunite the dog with her mom.
