It’s incredible how this dog was able to continue his job as a sheep herder despite having his leg severed! Boss is a border collie that has always wanted to herd sheep. He was interested in this activity even when he was only an 8-week-old puppy!
However, in a tragic turn of events, Boss disappeared sometime in July this year. As usual, he was last seen herding sheep, but the next second he was nowhere to be seen. In their quest for Boss, a few individuals utilized a drone. To their dismay, they were unable to locate the lost canine.
Anna MacKinnon, the shepherdess and owner of Boss, was very distraught about the sudden absence of her dog. She didn’t think she would see her best friend again.
Fortunately, Anna’s father sighted Boss hobbling up a hill on their farm outside Perth eight days later. Anna was overwhelmed and shaking after seeing that her missing dog had returned!
However, when they went to see a veterinarian, Anna was faced with the challenging option of amputating Boss’s front left leg due to nerve damage. This decision came after six weeks of consulting with the vets and waiting to see whether Boss’s condition would improve.
According to Anna, she thought the amputation was a bit extreme at first, but she realized it was what Boss needed. She also thought the accident would stop Boss’ passion for herding, but lucky for everyone, it wasn’t long after the jolly dog went back outside to herd the sheep.
The damage caused by the unexplained mishap didn’t slow Boss down one bit, and he still does a great job of herding sheep. Everybody is happy that he is back to doing what he loves the most!
However, Anna still keeps an eye out for Boss, especially because he’s still recovering. While she’s happy about her dog’s fast recuperation, she doesn’t want him to be overworked. At the end of the day, Boss’ health is still the top priority.
