It’s impossible to predict who will become your hero. This is a lesson learned recently by the Lambert family of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania.
The family’s canine pet stepped up to the plate in their time of need and rescued them all from possible grief.
Edgar, a Treeing Walker Coonhound, is the dog in this amazing story. He’s a rescue dog that the family adopted from the local humane society center.
The Lamberts went to the facility one day to socialize and play with the rescue dogs as they usually did, but Edgar was simply too enticing not to bring home.
Melissa Lambert, the family’s matriarch, was first apprehensive about getting a dog. Her household was already stressful enough with her three daughters ranging in age from 3 to 8. When she eventually met Edgar, though, she couldn’t resist the dog’s allure.
Edgar was taken home by the Lamberts. The dog that was formerly thought to be unadoptable, proved everyone wrong. And it’s definitely one of Melissa and her husband’s best decisions as a married couple.
As it turned out, there was a wicked character in the Lamberts’ neighborhood. Thomas Dewald was a predator who preyed on unsupervised children. Thomas Dewald broke into the Lamberts’ home through a first-floor window on April 28.
Thomas Dewald had his sights set on one of the Lambert sisters. However, Edgar was adamant about not allowing it to happen. With all his effort, he frightened the bad man away.
The wicked man was well aware that he would fail upon seeing Edgar. So he bolted, perhaps enraged at the dog that had prevented him from doing his plan. He was soon apprehended and charged with his crime shortly after, stating that he was merely trying to prank his neighbors.
Edgar, the once unadoptable dog that eventually found a loving home, has now become a hero – not only to the Lamberts, but also to other families.
