Stories about car windows getting smashed because of a dog left inside have become abundant. Anyone would think that people would have known by now that leaving an animal alone in a hot car is a terrible idea.
Thankfully, there are a lot of concerned humans who do not hesitate to rescue them, just like the good people shopping in a Tesco Supermarket in Swansea, Wales. Zoey Thornton was one of these shoppers.
Hot summer day
Zoey, a 29-year-old resident of the area, was with her mom that hot summer day. They had just finished shopping and were putting their bags inside their car. The two women noticed a lady who looked nervous pacing around another vehicle.
They went to the female and asked her what was wrong. She said that a dog was trapped inside the car.
It was 77 degrees that day which meant the vehicle’s interior would most likely be more than 110 degrees. More than enough to get the poor pooch dehydrated. The concerned female also said that the dog had been there for at least 15 minutes. The car’s windows were slightly cranked down, but it didn’t help any.
As more people gathered around the car, a debate ensued about whether to smash the window and get the dog out. They had already asked the store to announce the car’s plates and ask the owner to come out. They have also called the cops. It has already been thirty minutes since, and nothing has changed.
Someone decided that enough was enough, and he was going to pry the window open. Zoey recorded the rescue.
Viral
One man smashed the window and opened the car door. But the pup was too scared to go near him. He unlocked the opposite door, and a woman scooped the pooch out. She brought the animal to a shade and gave him some water. The dog was panting heavily, and thanks to the kind shoppers, he was safe and away from danger.
Eventually, the cops arrived, and they found the dog owner. It was not clear what happened after that. Hopefully, they have learned not to put their pet in such a dangerous situation.
Zoey’s video went viral and it has earned almost 200,000 views. It also received numerous comments, lauding them for saving the dog.
